5-10-Link Rule

by Tom Arthur (Pastor)

Have you ever stood around among a bunch of people who you didn't know but who knew each other? One time I was waiting to talk to a friend who was talking with other people I didn't know. I stood there waiting to be invited into the circle, but it never happened. The more I stood there without being invited into the circle, the more awkward I felt. It was as if I was wearing a shirt that said, "Ignore me." Eventually I just walked away. The worst part of this story was that this happened at a church I was visiting for the first time! Here's a way to make sure this never happens at our church.

Kid's CreekFall Kid's Creek Schedule

This fall Kid's Creek will be moving to one service only at 11:15 AM. This decision was recommended by the Board of Stewards and affirmed by the Team Leaders. It is in response to the fewer number of families taking advantage of Kid's Creek in the first service and the smaller volunteer pool for this ministry. We are looking forward to offering one excellent opportunity for our children to grow, and look forward to the day when the new bunch of infants and young families currently in our church and new families who join our church in the future grow old enough and big enough for us to need to move back to offering Kid's Creek in both services. In the mean time, nursery will continue to be provided at both services for ages infant to 3 years old.

Kid's Creek Kickoff

Kid's Creek kicks off on Sunday, September 11th. Pre-schoolers will enjoy new episodes from Lil' K. K-5th Graders will experience "What's in the Bible." We begin receiving children at 11am at the Registration Table for the 11:15 service.

Fall forms are available at the Kid's Creek table. Pick yours up on Sunday!

Get REV'd Up! StuREV

CALLING ALL YOUTH: SCC's youth ministry, Student Revolution (StuREV), is gearing up for a rockin' fall term! Life for DummiesLife for Dummies

(July 31st Six Weeks)

Sometimes lessons for life just need to be simple, like a story. Jesus understood that stories can communicate complicated truths in a simple way that nothing else can, so he told stories all the time. These stories help give shape to the deepest yearnings of our lives. How do we live? What do we do? Who are we? Come listen and learn from the master story teller, Jesus.

Local Missions

SCC is a church that wants to develop friendships within our community. Through local friendships, or missions, we seek to meet the physical and spiritual needs of our community. In order to begin to meet those needs, we need to be aware of them. One of our small groups, led by Sarah Arthur, help serve dinner at Maplewood on the first Saturday of each month. they arrive by 5:30pm and serve two shifts, then help wit cleanup or childcare until 8pm. If you would like to help out please contact Patricia Alderman.

Sarah's group has also, offered to help the women of the shelter when the transition from there to a place of their own. They help supply household items they need (secondhand mostly, but they also provide paper products, cleaning supplies, etc.). If you would like to help with this ministry contact Sarah Arthur and she will let you know when opportunities come up.
